Challenge Life Summer Slam Sports Camps
Challenge Life, along with the North Slope Borough and the Mayors Office are bringing three different summer sports camps to the North Slope. First up, the volleyball camp will be hosted in Atqasuk, and will be run by a staff of several college coaches from Washington State and Alaska. Players will be fully immersed in volleyball training, games, and basic fitness for a full week (June 8-12). Second, Point Hope will host the basketball camp which will also be run by college coaches, both Junior Colleges and Division 1&2. The players will enjoy a week of basketball training, fitness, skill development, 1 on 1 play, team dynamics and concepts. The camp will run for a full week in late June (June 22 - 26). The last camp will be the cross country running camp in Anaktuvik Pass. This camp will be used to prepare Slope runners for their season as they will work with some of the top coaches and fitness professionals around. The camp will begin in early August (August 3 - 7).
These camps will all be staffed by Challenge Life staff (All Sokaitis, Justin Bourne, Mike Hajdukovich, Ryan Rock or Greg Brittenham). One of the goals of these summer camps will be to select the top campers in order to form a travel team in both volleyball and basketball. These teams will then be taken to Washington to compete in a camp/clinic. Another tool that all campers will use during their time at camp will be the Challenge Life Summer Slam Fitness Challenge. This will be a daily workout and it will be recorded online so they can compete for fun prizes while they stay fit.
Let's be active and be fit this summer!
